Density / Specific Weight

For plastics the density is also seen as the specific weight of the material. Density is calculated by dividing the mass by the volume of the material and is usually expressed in g / cm3 . The specific gravity ( SG ) is defined as the ratio of the density of the material and the density of water (1 g / cm3) at a specified temperature. Ie: a material with a specific gravity less than 1 means that it will float on water.
